Previous industrial revolutions liberated humankind from animal power, made mass production possible and brought digital capabilities to billions of people. This Fourth Industrial Revolution is, however, fundamentally different. It is characterized by a range of new technologies that are fusing the physical, digital and biological worlds, impacting all disciplines, economies and industries, and even challenging ideas about what it means to be human.

The resulting shifts and disruptions mean that we live in a time of great promise and great peril. The world has the potential to connect billions of more people to digital networks, dramatically improve the efficiency of organizations and even manage assets in ways that will change and revolutionize financial services.

For that reason, we are delighted to welcome Scott Amyx to THINK 18. Scott is a thought leader, speaker and author on the Internet of Things and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. As CEO of Amyx+, he oversees an award-winning business transformation firm specializing in IoT strategy, innovation and product development. He also is Chair and Managing Partner at Amyx Ventures, and a Singularity University/Smart City Accelerator Mentor and Startup Board Member. Amyx’s feature book, Strive was published by Wiley in 2018. Based on interviews with corporate CEOs, unicorn startup entrepreneurs and global policy leaders, it explores how, for anyone striving to succeed, doing the things they find most uncomfortable is the secret to outstanding achievement. Amyx holds a master’s degree in applied microeconomics/public policy from the University of Chicago and was a national Sloan Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University. He has been featured in media ranging from The New York Times and Forbes to Wired and InformationWeek, and his speaking schedule includes TEDx, the World Economic Forum and numerous other events.
